Medical Prescriptions for the Unemployed Pfizer Does It Right!

Medical Prescriptions for the Unemployed Pfizer Does It Right! I got some information from my good (virtual) buddy Jessica Lee yesterday that really blew me away. Ive blogged about health care here a few times starting from when I cut my hand open to my thoughts about Obama saving the healthcare system but this one is really heartening.   And I get to blog about it on the Fourth of July weekend I cant help but think how dang American (or COOL, or HUMANE) this is, and how Pfizer is treating us right (I really dont know much about Pfizer, so if you are a Pfizer hater and think they are not treating us right, leave a comment elsewhere). Im going to show you the email I got from Jessica, who is helping spread the word about this its kind of formal, but since its about getting free prescriptions I dont want to paraphrase.   Note, the end the email talks about people who dont qualify bottom line is to go to Pfizer Helpful Answers, or call their number (866.706.2400). This really is the bomb thank you Pfizer for stepping up and treating us right!   The email from Jessica (with my bolds for emphasis): I wanted to touch base with you as I’m working with Pfizer to raise awareness of its new patient assistance program called MAINTAIN, which became fully operational on July 1, 2009. MAINTAIN helps eligible unemployed Americans (and their families) who are in financial need and lack prescription coverage continue to get their Pfizer medicines free-of-charge for up to one year or until they become insured, whichever comes first. Based on your coverage of issues affecting job seekers on the Jibber Jobber blog, I thought you would find this program relevant â€" and helpful â€" to your readers. Through MAINTAIN, more than 70 Pfizer medicines are offered that treat a range of chronic health conditions. It is easy to learn if you may be eligible, by visiting www.PfizerHelpfulAnswers.com or calling 866-706-2400. The program is user-friendly, with a one-page application that Pfizer will typically process within two to three weeks. The program is expected to accept applications through December 31, 2009. There are four eligibility requirements for MAINTAIN: Applicants must be able to demonstrate loss of employment since January 1, 2009; Lack prescription coverage; Attest to financial need; and, Be on their Pfizer medicine for at least three months prior to unemployment and enrolling in the program. If you would like more information about MAINTAIN, please let me know and I can put you in touch with someone from Pfizer Helpful Answers. I hope you will take a moment to learn more about MAINTAIN and to post details about it on your blog. It’s a valuable resource for the millions of newly unemployed Americans who may need help to continue getting their Pfizer medicines, but who may not be aware that this program is available. Thank you, Jessica P.S. Uninsured patients who need a Pfizer medicine but who do not qualify for MAINTAIN may qualify for Pfizer’s other Patient Assistance Programs. More information is available at www.PfizerHelpfulAnswers.com. For patients who are taking Pfizer oncology or specialty medicine and need assistance, Pfizer Helpful Answers also runs programs designed specifically to meet the needs of those patients including those who have recently lost their jobs and their insurance. These programs include RSVP for anti infective, HIV and PAH medicines, FirstResource for oncology and the Pfizer Bridge Program for endocrine care medicines. How many other companies are doing something like this? Please help spread the word on this I think its just plain COOL! Medical Prescriptions for the Unemployed Pfizer Does It Right! My Story From Stuck and Stressed to Jumping Out of Bed - Classy Career Girl

My Story From Stuck and Stressed to Jumping Out of Bed Today I am taking you on a trip down memory lane and sharing some things I have never shared before. I remember just a few years ago when I had so much stress and anxiety going to work that my stomach would hurt driving in. I would just sit in the car until the last possible minute before I would have to waste my life away and walk through the doors. I couldn’t relax or enjoy the weekends because I dreaded Monday morning. Sunday blues literally hit as soon as I woke up on Sunday and then the whole day I was just stressed. Giving a presentation for my dream career just an hour after finding out I was miscarrying. I may look fine, but emotionally I am not. Working towards my dream career and dream business was the ONLY thing that helped me move forward (and my wonderful husband!:) It caused arguments between my husband and I because I was unhappy and moody in the evenings after work, sometimes even in tears. My husband would get frustrated with me being negative and looking for a job. My Story: From Stuck and Stressed to Jumping Out of Bed I wanted to quit but we were way underwater financially and on our mortgage, and eventually we had to let our first place go and foreclose. We had over $80,000 in debt. The stress of making sure my boss and clients were happy at all times of the day impacted my health as well. I was 15 pounds overweight. I tried for years to get pregnant and then suffered two miscarriages back to back. Then I tried IVF, and that didn’t work either. I was even in counseling for depression. I had lots of wasted energy and was so stuck, and I wanted to find a way forward. But I was indecisive, scared, and unclear about my future career direction. It was hard to find the time to even look for a new career with the crazy long hours I was working at my day job. I felt embarrassed to tell other people what I did and insecure with others who were successful and happy in their careers. I complained a lot at home, and I held back on my true potential at work. For many years I didn’t go after my real dream job. I just was simply working while dreaming of taking the leap. Fast forward to today, I had no idea what my life and career is now was even possible. I had no idea that my dream career could feel so effortless. That it could be really fulfilling. I had no idea what I was truly capable of and that I could make a positive difference with my gifts and talents. My little miracle baby. Today,  I am happier, healthier  less stressed. I want to work hard because I kind of lose track of time when I am working. Work doesn’t feel like work. I jump out of bed sometimes at 4 am to do my work. I am a happier wife. My life has purpose and meaning, and I am making an impact. I am excited to explain my job to others, and I have found work I love which transfers into all other areas of my life as well.     And one of the best parts of all is that as I slowly began to be more balanced and have more fun working towards my dream career and I let go of trying to be perfect at a job I hated. I suddenly came home one day from work to take a pregnancy test and was completely shocked to find out that I was pregnant, naturally! My little miracle baby could now thrive because I was finally taking care of my health physically and emotionally. I was making the right choices for ME, not my boss or clients. Self-care is so, so important to creating the life and career of your dreams. I finally did what made me happy and let what other people wanted me to do just go. Sometimes when you are on the right track, more negative things can happen to try to bring you down. Those negative things kept happening over and over again for me; doors closed in my personal life and professional life. After I found out IVF was not going to work for me, I let go of what wasn’t working. [RELATED: The Surprising Truth About Passion, Purpose and Fulfillment] Within a week,  I hired a coach and got into a community of ambitious women who were rockin’ it in their careers and doing amazing things that I wanted to do someday too. That was my life changing decision. Not to dwell in negativity and impossibility any longer, but to make a change and surround myself with positive go-getters who believed that ANYTHING was possible. So much has been transformed in myself as I went through this process of discovering my ideal career and then making it happen in real life. All of these elements such as networking, job application, resume development, LinkedIn, interviewing…..it’s a real balance to do it all right I know to truly master getting your dream career. But you won’t be sorry. If this is something that interests you, I know you can master launching your dream career just like I did. If you are fiercely committed to making it happen. If you make getting results non-negotiable. If you dedicate your life to offering whatever your gifts are in the world, You can do it. You deserve to have the level of ease, fulfillment and happiness in your career and life that I have inside of me right now. You deserve to have your desires met and reach your true potential. A world of possibilities. Giving a TV interview in Brazil with my 3-month old daughter sleeping in the background all because I made a commitment and didnt give up. But you must be willing to do the work and sometimes it is hard work to launch your dream career or business. However, the least hard work should be committing to the process of finding something that is truly meaningful. Making the commitment opens up a world of possibilities  for my clients and commitment has also provided me with a very happy career and a lifestyle that I love. It just takes you to say right now, “I can, and I will be a success no matter what. Once you make the commitment to yourself, the steps will appear in front of you to take next. So, because I have launched my dream career  through so many roadblocks and negative experiences, I know anyone who really desires it for themselves can have it, too. After you have made your commitment, grab a journal and write “I CAN and I WILL be a success no matter what.  Lets get started!

Social Media Updates Will Change the Way You Think of Everything

Social Media Updates Will Change the Way You Think of Everything Social media has evolved over the years and continues to grow and change. Today we are coming to a point where new platforms are taking the lead and you absolutely have to stay up to date if you want to maintain your audience. Below are some recent changes to some of your favorite social media platforms. 5 Major Social Media Updates: Spoiler Alert! Everythings Changed 1. Facebook Changes There is no doubt that Facebook is still a very popular social media platform. People use Facebook to learn about what’s currently happening around the world and share their likes/dislikes. Here are some recent changes: Reactions Facebook has always had the “like” button. However, recently Facebook introduced reactions, in addition of the Like button.  Now you can easily and quickly express how something you see in News Feed makes you feel. To add a reaction, hold down the Like button on mobile or hover over the Like  button on desktop to see the reaction image options, and then tap either Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sad or Angry.   I think I like these. Facebook Live The News Feed is where you get the latest information from the friends, family, and Pages you’ve connected to such as status updates, photos, videos, and links. You can now add Facebook Live videos to the list. Facebook introduced Facebook Live on iOS back in December, but they recently began showcasing it on Android  in the US. Over the last several months Facebook Live video has become more and more popular and there has been an increase in people and Pages creating and watching live videos. To share live video, just tap “What’s on your mind?” at the top of News Feed and select the Live Video icon (you will see “New! Record and share live video” at the bottom). You can write a quick description and select the audience before going live. During your broadcast, you’ll see the number of live viewers, the names of the friends who are watching, and respond to a real-time stream of  comments. When you end your broadcast, it will be saved on your Timeline like any other video, which you can then delete or keep for your friends to watch later. You can see live videos from your friends and  the public figures you follow  right in news feed. Additionally, while watching a live video, you can tap the  Subscribe button  to get notified of the next time the contributor goes live. 2. Instagram Changes Feed Order According to Instagram “the average Instagram user misses 70 percent of what’s in their feed”, including photos with lots of Likes and posts by their friends. So, in case you haven’t heard, Instagram  is changing things around and has announced  that it will start repositioning the order of posts in its feed and you will no longer see your feed in reverse chronological order. Instagram will order posts “based on the likelihood you’ll be interested in the content, your relationship with the  person posting and the timeliness of the post.” This is basically how Facebook’s feed works, and how Twitter recently rearranged it’s social media feed to work. [RELATED: How to Succeed With the New Instagram Algorithm] How do I turn push notifications on or off? You can choose to get push notifications when someone likes or comments on your post. If you have notifications turned on, you can also choose accounts that you want to receive notifications about. To turn push notifications on or off: 1. Go to your profile 2. Tap Settings (which may look different on Android and iOS)  in the top-right corner  Push Notification Settings 3. Adjust your settings To receive notifications about specific accounts that you follow, go to their profile, tap    (Android) or  (iOS)  Turn on Post Notifications. Account Switching: Now Available on Instagram If you didn’t know, now you can quickly and easily switch between multiple accounts on Instagram! Go from your personal account and feature account in seconds. No more logging in and out of multiple accounts. How to add an account Go to your profile settings to add an additional account. From there, tap your username at the top of your profile to switch between accounts. Once you have multiple accounts added, you’ll see your profile photo appear in places throughout the app so you can always tell which one you’re using at the moment. I love it! View Counts on Videos You can now see how many times people have watched a video on Instagram. Views are the most commonly popular form of feedback on video. You will see your view counts underneath videos where before you would normally see likes. You’ll be able to see likes by tapping “views.” 3. Twitter Changes Twitter’s Algorithmic Timeline Okay, you follow hundreds of people on Twitter but when you open Twitter to check the statuses, you may feel overwhelmed at the amount of tweets you see and you could have missed some important Tweets as well. So, you may have noticed by now that Twitter added a timeline feature that helps you catch up on the best Tweets from the people you follow. When you open up Twitter after being away for an extended amount of time, you will see that the Tweets you’re most likely to be interested in (the service’s algorithm determines) will appear at the top of your timeline. However, they still appear in recent, reverse chronological order. The rest of the Tweets will be shown below that, also in reverse chronological order.  Just refresh to see all new Tweets at the top of your social media page. 4. Periscope Changes This month the Periscope app, another great social media tool, was updated on the Android Platform. Here are some of the changes being done: 1. Teleport â€" takes you to a top live broadcast from around the world 2. Easier to see if you’re watching a broadcast with your mutual followers. They will appear at the top of the viewer list. 3. Message Carousel that helps you navigate through recent messages to reply, view profile, or report. 4. Broadcaster’s local time in the info panel for broadcasts with location enabled 5. Fix: Viewing a broadcast may end earlier than it should 6. Fix: Loading live broadcasts remain in a loading state Periscope on Twitter for iOS Since their launch, Periscope has had millions of broadcasts created. However, when a broadcast was shared on Twitter, you would have to tap the link to open the Periscope app. However, Periscope has replaced those links with the broadcast itself, autoplaying right within the Tweet. And when you tap the video, it goes full-screen and shows Periscope comments and hearts from other viewers. Now, you don’t need the Periscope app or even a Periscope account. Great right! 5. Snapchat Changes Recently, Snapchat made a change that everyone instantly noticedâ€"a different font. The Snapchat app now defaults to the font â€"Avenir.  I am new to Snapchat so this change has not had an impact on me but for some it was a major change. Additionally, Snapchat made some navigational tweaks to the Stories section of Snapchat. When you scroll through your Stories, the app will show how long ago they were posted in the recent updates section or where they fall alphabetically in the all Stories section. Before, the app would let you navigate between stories with an alphabetic scroll bar in the right-hand side of the screen. So, what do you think of all of these social media updates? Share in the comments below whether or not you like these changes. I’d love to hear which ones you’re using and what your thoughts are!

Cover Letter Debate Are They Necessary in Executive Job Search - Executive Career Brandâ„¢

Cover Letter Debate Are They Necessary in Executive Job Search Some of my fellow careers industry professionals dismiss cover letters as an ineffective marketing tool. I don’t agree. Although there are recruiters and hiring decision makers who will skip right over your cover letters, others read them religiously and judge candidates by them as strongly as they do their resumes and other career marketing communications. My research and experience over the years revealed that NOT having a cover letter may ruin your chances, but HAVING a cover letter will  not likely  hurt your chances. By all means, include  personalized cover letters with your resume targeting each specific employer. Besides, these days youre probably sending your resume by email as a Word attachment, so you need something in that email message. You might as well make it a hard-hitting, brand-reinforcing message, introducing your even harder-hitting resume. Some job search experts recommend ONLY sending highly-targeted cover letters, without a resume â€" something Im hesitant about, except in certain circumstances. That strategy makes more sense than neglecting cover letters entirely. Since its doubtful a cover letter will hurt them, job seekers would be wise to err on the side of caution and include customized, targeted cover letters. At the very least, a covering letter or email message is an expected courtesy to the reader, and clarifies why youre writing to them. Well-written job descriptions that look like a good mutual fit are  valuable resources for composing cover letters that will hit home with your target audience. Use the same keywords in your cover letters, providing specific examples of your contributions and expertise, matching their needs with your promise of value in those areas. If the best you can do is send the same generic cover letter to every recruiter and employer hiring authority, assuming they will somehow interpret your good fit from your unfocused mishmosh, dont bother. A generic cover letter or one that simply rehashes the resume can have a negative impact. Your cover letter should be regarded and written as one more stand-alone career marketing piece in your brand communications plan, supporting your brand and good-fit qualities for the company. The thrust of cover letters  should vary to meet specific circumstances and compel specific readers. For instance, a cold-call letter  may have a different focus and read a bit differently than a referral letter. It  all boils down to step one in launching any successful executive job search campaign â€" narrowing your search and knowing your target audience, then researching your target list of companies to determine their needs and how you can solve their problems. Because youre focusing your search in one direction, you may be able to re-use some of your cover letter messaging  from one letter to the next, customizing the introductory paragraph and elsewhere as needed. Always write to a specific person. Dear Sir or Dear Madam wont do. Identify the key decision makers in your target companies to whom youll send your letter  with attached  resume or other appropriate materials. Heres an example of a Corporate Turnaround Management Executive referral cover letter I wrote for a client, with identifying information fictionalized to protect her confidential search. Job Search in December

Job Search in December December â€" a time for holiday parties, shopping, decorating, making cookies, etc. It’s a time when many individuals in a job search decide to slow down. While it makes sense that free time can be much tighter to come by in the month of December, I want to caution job seekers from slowing down their search. Below are 4 reasons why you should not ignore your job search in December: While many companies may not be looking to hire an individual to start work in December, there are still many job postings for jobs that will start in the New Year. Don’t miss these opportunities! For many job seekers, taking small steps each week helps them continue to make progress in your search. By taking the month off, you will need to find that motivation and re-start your search in January. Getting the motivation to get started again is much more difficult if you have taken a month off than if you continue your search through the month of December (even if you scaled it back a bit). January is the time for resolutions. Gyms are more crowded and more job seekers have entered the search. Get a jump on those who start their search in January, by continuing all your hard work through this month. Take advantage of the month of December to increase or strengthen your network or networking relationships. Meet individuals for coffee or lunch. Start the conversations with those individuals who may be able to help you in the job search. By laying the foundation in December, you may be able to increase your chances for opportunities in the New Year. Many of you have worked hard on your search for months. Continue this progress through the month of December, even though you have other distractions. You may find it necessary to slow down the search, but don’t abandon it all together. Keep that motivation and drive going throughout the month and it will be much easier to ramp up again in January.

Writing Resume - The Right Way to Write a Resume

Writing Resume - The Right Way to Write a ResumeWhen it comes to writing resume, the ideal way to write a resume is not always the easiest or most convenient. It can be very daunting if you are not familiar with what you should be writing about and what you should avoid writing. Not only will it take time to finish your resume but it can also cost you a great deal of money when you get ripped off when you are applying for jobs that require resume writing. One of the biggest mistakes that people make when writing resumes is not utilizing search engine optimization. Search engine optimization is the use of keywords within the body of your resume. Search engine optimization is crucial when you are writing a resume because when you have the right keywords you will be able to get much better search engine placement on many different job sites and search engines. Using these keywords will allow your resume to get a higher ranking, which will then allow you to get the higher paying jobs and get them faster. The Internet is a huge resource for all kinds of information. You can go online and find a plethora of jobs on the Internet. If you have a website, it is important that you make sure that you add some job listing information. Job listing information can be very helpful because when you are trying to apply for jobs you will not only be adding a little bit of information to your resume, but you will also be able to understand what you need to say when it comes to your qualifications for the job.The great thing about the Internet is that it is constantly changing. There are so many different websites that are out there that there is a website for just about every job. If you can learn to read these websites, especially when it comes to resume writing, you will be able to understand the job postings and see where you can place your resume so that you can get the best jobs that you can and get them quickly.Writing resumes and covering letters can seem like a very daunting task. However, it is important that you find something that you enjoy doing. This can help you out tremendously because you will be able to write more often. Just remember to use your own judgment when it comes to what you want to say in your resume because you do not want to sound like a robot that is trying to sell yourself to someone. You can find a free resume template at your local college or school. Most of the time you will be able to find these and if you don't you will be able to find a list at your local library. This is the best way to start off when you are writing a resume and cover letter.Remember to keep the content of your resume to around two hundred and fifty words. Do not use more than two hundred and fifty words, because these types of applications are not usually filled out with that much information. Keep in mind that you will be asked to give details about yourself on the application. With this in mind, make sure that you do not fill out more than one applicat ion form.It is a good idea to get someone else to read your resume or cover letter. It is much easier to get someone to read a resume if they have not had to read it before and they will know what it is all about. Make sure that you have a back up copy or a friend that can read it for you so that you do not lose your pride when it comes to getting the job that you have applied for.
